How to Clean a Mattress Stain in 5 Simple Steps
It is important to clean and change your sheet every week. Now the question is what about the mattress? It may be that you didn’t think about our mattress before but it’s time to clean your mattress. Our sheet cannot protect the mattress as it gets damaged after a few days.
It doesn’t matter how much you cover your mattress, dust will damage it because dust loves soft and porous mattresses. So you need to clean your mattress every 6 months.
You cannot imagine how much dust it can carry if you do not clean it regularly and that dust mite can cause several breathing diseases like sinus and eczema when your mattress is full of dust mites. Dust mites are mostly harmful to your baby and it’s easy for them to infect your baby.
Tips on How to Clean a Mattress Stain:
If you have a bed with a headboard then you should take proper care of them. Because we purchase a bed for longer uses and do not change them for shorter ones unless they get damaged and think the bed, mattress, and headboard will not damage if we clean them regularly.
The mattress is a little bit expensive and heavy thing. So you cannot use them as your pillows. I mean you cannot throw it any time you want. So you should take care of your mattress when you are drinking tea or doing any other work that can create a stain on the mattress.
But when this happens accidentally you should take some steps to clean the mattress as soon as possible so that it doesn’t make stain permanently.
1. Wash Bed Sheet:
Firstly, you need to remove and wash your bed sheet and wash them in the machine on full heat to remove the stains and dust properly. If you clean your mattress and put your dirty sheet again in it then it will not work, no matter how clean your mattress is. So before cleaning your mattress, you need to clean your bed sheet where the spot has taken place. Washing sheet so roughly it may damage and the best way to wash with the machine.
2. Vacuum the Mattress:
The next step is to vacuum your mattress to clean separated dust and other dirt. When you remove the sheet, you will see the top of the mattress is filled with dust, pet hair, and other dirt. Take a quick clean of those waste with your vacuum cleaner. The vacuum cleaner is found in every household but if you don’t have a vacuum cleaner, then you can clean them manually with a broom or any other cloth which you don’t use.
3. Spot Clean:
Spot clean fully depends on what type of spot is this, such as wine spot, coffee, or maybe it is blood, and so on. It will be tougher to clean this spot without using chemicals. To remove such hard stains you need hydrogen peroxide, liquid dish soap, and baking soda. You need to mix them in the spray bottle to spray over the stain easily. But remember one thing, using hard products can damage your mattress. So treat it very carefully or use nontoxic chemicals.
4. Use Backing Soda for Deodorize:
After spot cleaning, now it is time to deodorize your mattress with baking soda. Simply sprinkle a little amount of baking soda across the spot area and let it be for over two hours so that it can absorb all the liquid. Proper cleaning is mandatory, otherwise, you can not understand whether the spot has spread to other places. But one thing you should remember you should use the proper amount of baking soda otherwise your mattress color could be changed to mild.
5. Vacuum Again:
Let your mattress vacuum again to remove the extra applied baking soda and make your mattress clean completely. After that try to dry up the cleaned and wet area so that it can be dry as soon as possible. That’s it. Finally, you will get your mattress cleaned.
